The Kochman

Drums & Percussion

From a young age, The Kochman was destined to play the drums. His rhythmic prowess was discovered early by a man simply known as "The Maestro." It was he who introduced lil' kochman to the endless world of percussion. Wanting more than Mr. Sine's 9th period band class, The Kochman decided to finagle his way into an "after-school" band called Bad Acid. Showing up unannounced to their second rehearsal, he sat in on rhythm harp wailing on their teenage angst anthem "Bad Hair Day." Before long he had the fans screaming the lyrics to their cult favorite "Rich Gorman". Bad Acid's only live performance was cut short after their highly intoxicated drummer couldn't complete the set. To this day, fans are still begging for a reunion.

In college The Kochman began to branch out musically, teaching himself guitar and bass, while adding to his percussion collection. He dreamed of one day fronting his own 30 piece band much like ‘The Maestro' himself.

Years after moving to NYC, he started playing out as part of Kelly Jo and the Kochman. With Kelly's wit and sensitivity and The Kochman's good looks, the two were an instant hit, later joining forces with Bullfrog and the Reverend, forming The Preverts, who rocked the LES and East Village music scene for close to a year.

When Steve and Chris saw The Kochman, they knew he had that somethin' special, so they asked him to jam. Although only a percussionist at the time, they figured the Kochman could easily be converted to a drummer once they got him behind the kit. They were right, and he hasn't looked back ever since. "Playing with these guys has brought out something in me I didn't know I had. I'm an ANIMAL!!!" It was that moment, The Jynx was born.

On the side, The Kochman enjoys jamming with local dram rockers, In-giro. You may also catch him croaning at some poor soul's wedding, (never for money, of course). Just recently he's started playing guitar in The Koch Project with the very lovely and talented KochWOman better known as Elexis. Anyone interested in the Kochman's 30 piece ensemble, there is an open-ended open call. Next time you see him, feel free to schedule an audition.
