Steve Holder
Bass & Backing Vocals
Steve's been playing bass longer than he cares to remember and counts among his many influences the likes of Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones, and Aston "Family Man" Barrett. The work done by these players were just part of the landscape of Steve's early years growing up in Brooklyn in a house filled with music. These players "set the stage" for later ones such as Adam Clayton, Flea, and P-Nut — all of whom have shaped their styles to fit their unique musical situations. "A band like U2, for example, would sound entirely different with someone other then Adam Clayton playing bass", Steve notes.
The same can be said about The Jynx.
Appreciating the role he plays in this three-piece band, Steve enjoys the challenge of holding the rythmn of the songs the Jynx have developed together with their melodies. To do this, Steve draws his inspiration from a wide variety of sources. From Appalachian to Zydeco, any music that grooves will get his attention — and any of it is liable to find its way into his basslines.
When asked about The Jynx, Steve says that this band has been the most positive and satisfying musical experience he has ever had. He believes that when you get right down to it, the music that moves people most is that which has an "inner" sense of movement.
The music of The Jynx moves him.
In addition to bass, Steve also plays guitar and is known to play some keyboards and hand drums from time to time as well.
